Show Rules |
1. Competition is open to members and non-members. 2. Exhibitors may make one entry only in each class. 3. Vases and containers should be supplied by the exhibitor, but can be borrowed from the Society. 4. No entries can be accepted or altered after 5.00 pm on the day before the Show. 5. Exhibit cards will be distributed at the time of staging and must be placed face downwards with the exhibit. 6. Only Judges and necessary officials will be allowed in the hall during judging. 7. All entries will be judged against the RHS Horticultural Show Handbook 1999, and the Judges shall be at liberty to withhold any prize in case of insufficient competition or where, in their opinion, the exhibits have not reached Show standard. Therefore, first prizes will not necessarily be awarded in every class. 8. The exact number and kind specified must be exhibited. 9. Sizes of pots, bowls and hanging baskets are the maximum permitted, and are measured inside the rim. 10. The members of the Committee, or whom they may appoint, shall be at liberty to inspect the garden or allotment of any exhibitor. 11. Any protest or objection must be in writing and handed to the Show Secretary within one hour of the opening of the Show to the public, together with a deposit of 50p which will be refunded only if the objection is upheld. 12. The decision of the Judges shall be final. 13. For the purpose of the highest aggregate, the points shall be: First Prize 25 points; Second 15 points; Third 10 points; and Highly Commended 3 points. 14. No exhibit shall be removed until the close of the Show. 15. All exhibits and receptacles are entirely at the risk of the exhibitor who must also accept responsibility for their collection at the close of the Show. The Society will not be liable for any loss or for any personal injury due to any cause whatsoever. 16. If the exhibitor wishes to reserve an exhibit in any class, the exhibit must be removed by the time specified in the Handbook otherwise it will be sold by auction at the close of the Show, the proceeds to go to the Chiswick Horticultural & Allotments Society. 17. All staging must he completed by the time shown for each show. Any exhibit not staged by the correct time will not be accepted. 18. Cups may be held by members only for one year only and must be returned to the Society one month before the following year's show. 19. The Committee shall have power to deal with all matters not provided for in the above rules. |
